Welcome
Dearest Friends of Anahata!
As we celebrate the simple pleasures of the season, we reflect with gratitude on the abundance of blessings we have experienced here at Anahata all these many years. The many beloveds who come to create and participate in the various offerings here at Anahata weave the rich tapestry of our lives together. ![]()
We are now calling forth a new vision we have for Anahata… That of member-owners with shared ownership and stewardship of Anahata. This means that we are calling forth individuals, couples or a team of people who have the resources, energy and skillsets to run a thriving retreat and wellness center nestled within a cohousing community as one seamless and synergistic endeavor. The new co-owners/managers would buy into partial property ownership, live here at Anahata, and help run the day-to-day operations of Anahata as well as conduct their own wellness sessions, programs, retreats, etc. While we have a rich and full array of ongoing activities that could continue, this new design would allow for the inspiration and vision of those coming on board.
This is suitable for souls who long to participate in a community or ashram-like experience. It would work for mature seasoned practitioners of some type of healing, spiritual or creative arts, as well as a complementary handful of folks that could include a master permaculturist, builder/property manager, beekeeper, landscaper, eventer, farm to table chef, as well as kind-hearted human beings with a propensity for co-creation and connection.
Interested parties should contact us for a conversation and to find out more details.
Because of the the energetic and ambitious focus required for this endeavor, this situation is less suitable as a retirement community, or a place for very young families for whom the child-rearing/homeschooling, etc. are their primary endeavor. We know from experience the time and care required of the core team. That said, we welcome families and children to many of our celebrations, we are deeply networked into the family/educational community at large, we have two young families living here now.
This will allow myself and Luke to step back, semi-or fully retire, mentor and assist, and move into our highest expression for this time of our lives. We will likely reside at Sunflower next door, travel more, and would love to focus on connecting, teaching and guiding rather than the daily logistics of running such a center. Of course at some point we will step fully out of the picture and into a whole new cosmic reality.
We thank you for participating in this vision with your prayers and love, ideas and connections, and your presence as we continue to have lovely soirées and retreats. ![]()
Bless all of you as we discover ourselves as one human family united with the heart of all creation.
With love,
Luke and Ashera

We welcome visitors, guests and residents to grow and thrive alongside one another in love.
Anahata is an intentional community and gathering place situated on 47 pristine acres along the Little River in Floyd County, Virginia.
Since 1995, we have explored the sacred interrelation of people, nature and the cosmos. Our aim is to create a sustainable and mutually thriving connection with nature and each other. We invite you to come explore, learn and share with us as we live from the Anahata Chakra – a Sanskrit word for heart center.

Private Yoga Retreat

“From a retreat perspective, it not only offered the solace of meditation and yoga and healthful, nourishing foods, but also the immense comfort of a loving community. It was unlike any retreat experience I could have had elsewhere. It’s rare to find the opportunity for self-reflection and solitude alongside the enveloping warmth of such a special community. It healed me in so many ways and on so many levels.”
